Welcome to photography@perranuthnoe

photography@perranuthnoe was established in 2009 following a Perranuthnoe village church room consultation day where a number of people suggested a group be formed for those interested in the upsurge we have had in digital photography.

The first meeting of this group took place on Monday 5 October 2009.

We are a group of like-minded people who meet to discuss anything relating to photography.

We meet every three weeks at 7pm on a Monday evening in Perranuthnoe church room.

During the meetings we discuss techniques and share knowledge and experience. We also set a theme at the end of every meeting so that members can practice their skills and bring their results along to the next meeting.

Please have a look at some of our images on this website and feel free to leave any comments.

We welcome new members. If you would like to find out more about our programme, meeting dates and what we are up to please contact Martin on 01736 710820 or email martin.seawards@btinternet.com

28 March 2011

We now have over 30 paid up members and as reported last month, we are regularly getting an average 20 members at each meeting. I also receive several enquiries each month from prospective new members. Therefore, on Monday it was decided that we would now restrict membership, for now, to 35 and maintain a waiting list for any potential new members.

The ‘Work’ subject produced a good response and all images have now been uploaded and can be viewed at http://photography-perranuthnoe.blogspot.com/ Thanks also to James for giving us a good laugh with his 10 minute personal introductory talk to photography.

Our new subject is Spring. A perfect subject for the season however I’m sure as usual some of you will interpret this in a very different way!

Our next regular meeting is on Bank Holiday Monday 25 April at 7pm in the Church Room.

Several people have now showed an interest in Billy Graham’s Photoshop tutorial on Monday 9 May, starting at 7pm and finishing round 9pm. The only charge will be the £1 per person towards the room hire. If you want to come along and you haven’t already done so please let me know. Some of you may also be interested to have a look at Carnkie Cemera Club’s website: http://www.carnkiecameraclub.co.uk/PhotoBasics/PhotoBasicsPSE.htm where you will find some great Photoshop tutorials and free downloads. Let me know what you think

Please Note: As previously advised, the Church Room has now been booked for our Summer exhibition preview on Friday 24 June. Over the coming weeks please email me your best image taken in the last 12 months and I will arrange to get them all printed and mounted ready for the exhibition. There will be no cost to the members as all costs will recouped on the preview night by way of a small entry fee to include a glass of wine/soft drink and nibbles. In order to give me enough time to do all this please submit your image to me for the exhibition by 15 May. So come on, this is a great opportunity to show off our best work to the community.

Finally, Linda has sent me the following message:

“The photo competition which was mentioned in the Cornishman last week can be found on www.nationalhistoricships.org.uk. There are four categories: historic vessels on the National Register; traditional maritime skills in action; your local historic vessel or seascape; and 'The Maritime enthusiast'. The prizes include £1k to spend, and Olympus cameras and cash for training. I thought some of our members might be interested.” Worth a go!

As always please feel free to contact me if you have any questions/concerns regarding the group, any suggestions/ideas you may have or if you have any general points regarding photography. I will do my best to find the answers for you.
